Cost Cutting And Affordability
  •  David will support legislation at the Capitol that will ban companies from using AI to implement dynamic pricing, as well as a ban on landlords using AI algorithms to jack up rent.
  • Your personal data is no longer just used to market more products to you; it is now being used to rip you off. This is why David will introduce a bill to ban companies from using purchased personal data to adjust online pricing, also known as surveillance pricing.
  • The METRO Gold line is a great step forward for affordable public transportation in the district, and David will develop strategies to increase ridership.
  • Childcare in Minnesota is notoriously expensive, which is why David supports a universal childcare program that brings high quality free childcare to all Minnesota families. This proposal will help to alleviate Minnesota’s labor shortage as mothers will be able to afford to work.
  • Electricity rates in Minnesota are projected to rise by between 25% to 42% by 2035 due to President Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, and the power that the new data centers require could spike the cost of energy even more, which is why David will advocate for greater investment in low-cost green energy and will look to regulate data centers’ energy and water consumption.
Expanding Democracy
  • Ranked choice voting gives voters more choice and more power in the electoral process because they do not have to worry about a “wasted” vote which is why David supports ranked choice voting and will look to bring RCV to elections statewide.
  • Sometimes legislative gridlock and division can halt changes that ordinary Minnesotan’s are advocating for which is why David will introduce legislation to create a citizen led initiative process where Minnesotans can organize and put questions on the ballot without the approval of the legislature. This will give Minnesotans a direct say in the lawmaking process.
Wages and Labor
  • Over 10 states already have or will have in the next calendar year a 15 dollar an hour minimum wage and it is time for Minnesota to join them because the current minimum wage of 11.13$ an hour is not livable anymore in Minnesota as wages have not kept up with inflation which is why David will introduce a bill raising the minimum wage to 15 bucks an hour.
  • David will always support the rights of organized labor to collectively bargain and will be an ally of workers in Saint Paul.
  • There is a real concern that AI will put many Minnesotans out of work and that is why David will work to pass laws protecting workers from AI job cuts.
Education
  • David believes in fully funding our public education system and will continue to champion a strong public school system.
  • The State Grant and the North Star Promise programs are wildly successful programs for college students which is why David has a plan to raise the income cutoff for the North Star Promise from 80 thousand dollars to 100 thousand dollars in order to expand higher education opportunities for our students.
  • David will fully support the important work teachers do and believes that they must be compensated fairly.
  • The free school meals program was an amazing leap forward for hungry kids and David wants to take it to the next level by making these meal fresher and healthier.
Housing
  • Home ownership for many younger Minnesotans in becoming more out of reach which is why David will look to expand the current down payment assistant programs for first time home buyers.
  • High interest rates are preventing many Minnesotans from upsizing or downsizing their homes which is why David has an innovative idea where if you like your mortgage rate you can keep it when you  and sell your home and buy a new one.
  • There is a urgent affordable housing shortage in Minnesota which is why David will work with fellow legislators to increase the supply of housing by changing the zoning laws.
  • One of the reasons that there is a short supply of housing is because institutional investors like private equity firms are buying up large swaths of single family homes and turning them into rentals. David will work to ban private equity from buying up single family homes.
Healthcare
  • Medical debt is an abomination which is why David will introduce legislation to cancel Minnesotan’s medical debt.
  • If elected David will work to guarantee healthcare as a right for all Minnesotans, because the current system is failing them. Employer-subsidized insurance premiums are up 25 percent from 5 years ago, and the Trump Administration’s decision to allow the ACA tax credits to expire will cause premiums for 90,000 Minnesotans in the MNsure exchanges to increase by 50 percent next year. To add to that, the Trump administration’s Medicaid cuts will kick 140,000 Minnesotans off their Medicaid coverage, which will decimate rural hospitals. This is why David supports the Minnesota Health Plan by Senator Marty to address these urgent problems. The business community should love the Minnesota Health plan because it is a small-business empowerment program, as more people will be able to take the risk of starting their own business without worrying about losing their healthcare coverage.
    Fighting Corruption
    • Big money is swallowing up our democracy and regular peoples voices are being ignored due to millions of dollars of spending by big monied super PACs which is why David will introduce a bill to try to event the playing field by introducing a statewide public matching funds program that will give grassroots candidates a chance at winning.
    • David believes that the long term fix to the problem of legalized bribery in politics is to get the money out of politics which is why David will introduce a resolution calling for a constitutional convention to get an amendment to get money out of our politics and reclaim our democracy.
